A nativity scene is a traditional decoration associated with the celebration of Christmas, which presents the scene of the birth of Jesus Christ. Nativity scenes come in various forms, from simple, home-made models to elaborate and artistically made installations. Their purpose is to remind the faithful of the biblical story of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem. The tradition of creating nativity scenes dates back to the Middle Ages.
