It would be hard to say I’ve ever been more excited for the arrival of a new COBI set, and when I finally got to see it it was obvious the F-14A was well worth the wait. The size of 5811 is substantial, the look is as good as it gets and the set is also a great toy, regardless of your age.

The reason for my excitement? Well, part of it is really easy to explain. Everyone who enjoys the history of aviation knows this jet. The F-14 is maybe is most recognizable aircraft ever build, and in my opinion it is the most gorgeously designed jet ever to take to the sky. And not only that, but the TOMCAT is also forever associated with one the most thrilling and just plain fun movies ever produced, TOP GUN. I simply love this movie, and the chance to recreate some of its most exciting moments with Goose and Maverick, well, for me, it’s too much to pass up. Whether you’re feeling “the need for speed” or just wanting to take down Jester in a battle of aces, the COBI 4811 F-14A TOMCAT is what you need. So strap in and switch on those afterburners, because you’re in for one heck of a ride!

Congratulations are also in order for the design team at COBI. This, as I said in the review, is a new benchmark for what can be done with building blocks. The design is detailed and photo-realistic, the pad printings are some of the best I’ve ever seen, and the completed F-14A is something to behold. This is the kind of set I knew COBI would one day be able to create, and I’m pleased as punch to see this legendary fighter jet get the treatment it deserves from the coolest building block maker around, COBI. My recommendation couldn’t be stronger on the TOMCAT, so don’t miss the chance the jump off the deck with the TOP GUN F-14!
